South Lake Tahoe, California  & Stateline, Nevada

South Lake Tahoe,  beautiful, Marina Area

South Lake Tahoe is a must see for your Travel List.  Any view from any area is absolutely Spectacular!  Airfare  was steadily high during the open Ski season, but well worth it!  Many of the hotels on the main drag (Street) are in close proximity to the Ski mountain entrance which is THE GONDOLA.  Also nearby are the  Casinos in Stateline, Nevada.  The Gondola  is located in an open concept shopping mall.   A grocery store is tucked away right to one side of this area.   I do recommend even doing the half a day up the mountain, especially if you are a Newbie to  skiing OR Snowboarding.   I found several Art Gallery stores in the area.  If you have any body function left  after a day of skiing or Snowboarding you will find plenty to see and do in this charming little town. Taking a drive up to Emerald Glade (though scary for me) was well worth all the fear. The drive up to the Emerald lookout  re defined windy road to me.  This area does close often due to the weather conditions.

Saving tip: Free Full breakfast, Free Managers Reception(free drinks), indoor heated pool,  hot tub

This was one day after skiing and the sun was going down. My room faced west and was right next to the shopping center and The Gondola Entrance that takes you up 10,000ft to the top of the mountain to ski or snowboard it's hills and valleys..  The rooftops you see are from the Marriott right next door that is part of the shopping center as well.  We  were so close that we walked to the Gondola, which saved us parking fees.  Also the ski  and Snowboard rental Store is located in the shopping center so it was very convenient.

I really have not found the words to describe how beautiful South lake Tahoe, Ca is!
We experienced cold Spring like weather, snow , nature, and frigid temperatures. The best of both  worlds.  This is the spot to visit! The mountain is challenging for beginners, but worth it! There is gambling also right across the Stateline into Stateline, Nevada. Harrahs and a few others are literally feet away. Definitely a Destination Do!

FT.WORTH, TEXAS

Ft. Worth Stockyards

Ft. Worth,  was a very pleasant surprise.  This Texas city  is located only a few  miles from Dallas.  I  had not been on a vacation or on an airplane since the year 2005.
Upon arriving to Dallas, Love Field ,    I was eager to get out of Dallas and reach my destination.   I really enjoyed my time there.

My stay began in the Arts District, near downtown.   The location was great. Close to downtown, the Stockyards,  Museums, Botanical Gardens, and even A Ross Dress for Less & Starbucks, and a Target near by for emergencies.
The Marriott Suites  in the Arts district provided a full kitchen, living  area and complimentary breakfast and gym.  All the while  amenities made our stay more enjoyable.  The breakfast was equipped with everything you needed to get your day going, fresh fruit, waffles, cereal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, juice, coffee and the morning paper.

Stockyards.    Ft Worth,  has so many things to do, so a few days is a must!  It was a big, little, city town. The city is  possibly most known for The Stockyards.  They hold a free cattle drive daily and is filled with so many shops, a couple of museums.  Many
BBQ places to eat, candy store, "Texas" style wear stores, souvenir stores, knife stores and the awesome Ernest Tubb records store. This hidden goldmine is  FILLED with so MUCH Country Music, featuring all the greats, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline...etc, etc, etc..   There also  is a small kiddie area with a petting Zoo, corral maze, and train.

Billy Miner's Saloon was our next stop.  Located just down the street from the Stockyards on Main street . A no frills  Local neighborhood bar with beer, liquor, an outdoor patio and some bar food in the back kitchen nook inside.  A nice little watering hole to wet the whistle. The car show  they had in progress peeked our interest and was still going on after our trip to the Stockyards, so we stopped.
